Pool Liner
Repair
Anyone who has had an above groun pool for
some time, knows that it is inevitable that you need to deal
with some pool liner repair.
Having a leak, or a tear in
above ground pool liners does not mean
the death of the liner! Rips and tears are not all that
uncommon, and are most often the result of some sharp object
such as a long fingernail or some sharp toy which should not
be in the pool to begin with.
Remember, a rip or tear will only get worse
so acting quickly can save you from having to purchase an
entire new pool liner. If the leak is small, it may seem easier
to just add more water to the pool on occasion.
This is not advisable. A small tear can only
get larger. The water can damage the structures under the liner
and before you know it, you now have an expensive problem on
your hand.
First you need to find the leak. Inspect the
liner under water to see where it is. Once the tear has been
located, and it is below the water surface, the pool needs to
drained to allow the tear to be able to air dry before any
repairs can be made.
Pool Liner
Repair
To repair the rip or tear, it is easiest to
get a liner repair kit. (Liner patch kit) These kits are great
to have on hand for when a tear happens. Follow the easy steps
as described on the pool liner repair kit. Do not skimp on the
amount of time the patch needs to dry before filling the pool
with water again.
If your liner has rips and tears in a
variety of places, it can be that someone is habitually nicking
the liner, as can be the case with very long finger nails. Or,
your liner may just have served out it's usefullness and will
need to be replaced.
Inspecting your liner from time to time will
prevent bad leaks from ruining your liner, the underlying
cement or structure, and ruining your wallett.
Pool liner repair is something to be
expected. Keep a liner repair kit on hand.
